ATM Killing Gulistan-e-Johar karachi

Police claimed to have arrested a young man allegedly involved in the murder of a Pakistan Navy officer, who according to the police, was gunned down in a robbing bid.

The police said that Ghulam Nabi, 42, a chief petty officer of the Pakistan Navy, was shot dead on Thursday when he was withdrawing cash from the ATM of a private bank in Block-19 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar Morr.

The police also said that they had arrested the culprit, Azhar, from a residential apartment in Gulistan-e-Jauhar with the help of the footage of a CCTV camera installed in the ATM cabin, adding that some locals had informed the police after identifying Azhar in the footage aired by some TV channels. The police further said that the pistol used in the crime was also recovered from the possession of Azhar, who was a habitual criminal and was released from prison only three weeks ago.

The police added that Azhar had been previously arrested by the police of Darakhshan, Defence and Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan in various cases of street crime.

Quoting the accused, the police disclosed that he had managed to snatch only Rs 1,000 from the Rs 5,000 that the victim had withdrawn, adding that Azhar had no intention of killing Nabi, but since he had tried to resist, the situation resulted in unexpected firing and caused the death of the officer, who was a father of two daughters and originally hailed from Kotri in interior Sindh.

Champions T20 League Live

The Twenty20 Cricket has got bigger and better and for all the cricket fans there is a lot to cheer about and look forward to in the forthcoming Champions League 2009 that will be kicking off from the 8th of October.

Champions League will host T20 Cricket clubs from different nations; it will consist of a total of twelve teams with two top teams from Australia, two from England, two from South Africa and three best teams from India. The West Indies, Sri Lanka and even the New Zealand Teams will take part in the event.

The Champions League Cricket will be conducted in the round robin format with four groups consisting of three teams each and the two best teams for each group will qualify to the knockout level. The matches will be scheduled within a span of 16 days with a total of 19 matches being played during the stipulated time that is from October 8th- 23rd. The event sponsor is Bharthi Airtel and that is why the league is called Airtel Twenty20 Champions League.

The 12 teams participating in this league are as follows- New South Wales Blues and Victoria Bushrangers from Australia,Cape Cobras and Diamond Eagles from South Africa, Deccan Chargers, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Dare Devils from India, Otago Volts from New Zealand, Sussex Sharks and Somerset Sabres from England, Wayamba from Sri Lanka and Trinidad and Tobago from West Indies.
